Izumrud

an urban-type settlement in Sverdlovsk Oblast, RSFSR, located in the upper reaches of the Bol’shoi Reft River in the Ob’ basin, 12 km from the city of Asbest. Emeralds have been mined in the area since the 1830’s. There is a lumber procurement establishment and a brickyard in Izumrud.
