Izvestiia Tsik Islands

 

a group of islands in the southern Kara Sea. Area, approximately 90 sq km. The largest are Pologii (maximum elevation, 26 m) and Troinoi (42 m). They are composed of crystalline schists, sandstones, and traps. The surface is covered with arctic tundra vegetation. The Izvestiia TslK Islands were explored in 1932–33 by expeditions on the icebreakers Rusanov and A. Sibiriakov.
