a city (since 1939) and center of Kalush Raion, Ivano-Frankovsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. It has a railroad station on the Ivano-Frankovsk-Stryi line. Population, 47,400 (1972). Among its enterprises are a chemical and metallurgical combine, food-processing combines, a plant producing rein forced concrete items and structural elements, a plant producing equipment for municipal services, a machinery and repair plant, the Nefteburmashremont Plant, an assembly and components storage plant, a cheese dairy, a brewery, and a garment and haberdashery factory. Kalush is also the site of a chemical and technological technicum.
