Jarid
Jarid
(in Russian, dzherit or dzhirit), a thin, short javelin carried in a special small quiver (jide). In the countries of the Near East and among the Arabs, jarid is the name for a military exercise performed by a horseman with the javelin, as well as for the javelin itself, which is thrown at a gallop. The jarid was used in battle by Russian warriors from the 15th to 17th centuries.
