Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest
Location:Within Hawley, Plainfield, and Savoy, in the northern Berkshires in western Massachusetts; entrance is off Route 8A in Hawley.
Facilities:Wilderness campsites, mixed-use trails (35 miles), hiking trails (6miles), interpretive trail (1 mile, around Hallockville Pond), historicsites.
Activities:Camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding,hunting (with restrictions), cross-country skiing, snowmobiling.
Special Features:Park has many historic and archeological features, including remains of the long-abandoned village of South Hawley, a rare "beehive" charcoal kiln, and a natural mineral spring said to have healing attributes.
