Kasansai

 

an urban-type settlement in Chust Raion, Namangan Oblast, Uzbek SSR. Kasansai is situated on the Kasansai River (a tributary of the Syr Darya), 28 km northwest of the city of Namangan, with which it is linked by highway. Population, 14, 200 (1970). Kasansai has a vegetable and dairy sovkhoz anda silk-weaving mill.


Kasansai

 

(in its upper course, the Chalkidysai), a river located in the Kirghiz SSR and the Uzbek SSR, a right tributary of the Syr Darya River. Its length is 127 km; its basin area is1, 780 sq km. The river rises on the southern slope of the Chatkal Range. It flows at first through a narrow mountain valley; in its lower course it enters the Fergana Valley. The average annual discharge at the kishlak (hamlet) of Baimak (52 km from the river’s mouth) is 11.6 cu m per sec. Below Baimak water is diverted for irrigation. Located on the Kasansai River is the Orto-Tokoi Reservoir.
