Kash
a river in western China; right tributary of the Hi. Length, about 350 km; basin area, more than 10, 000 sq km. The river’s sources are located in the Iren-Khabyrga massif (Eastern Tien-Shan); for the most part, it flows through the longitudinal valley between the Borohoro and Avral-Ula ranges, in places through inaccessible gorges. The Kash is fed by snows and glaciers; highwater is during the summer. The average water discharge in the lower reaches is 127 m3/sec, with a maximum of more than 700 m3/sec. The river is used for irrigation.
