Karagie

(Batyr), the deepest land basin in the USSR, reaching a depth of 132 m below sea level. It is located on the Mangyshlak plateau, on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea. Length, 85 km; width, from 10 to 25 km. The bottom is covered with solonchaks.
