Jobs Growth

Jobs Growth

The number of jobs created in the United States in a given month. While this can affect the unemployment rate, the two figures are separate. For example, there can be positive jobs growth and unemployment can still rise. This is because population growth adds new members to the workforce at all times. Jobs growth must at least keep pace with this in order to prevent unemployment from rising. Jobs growth is included in the Employment Situation Summary published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics each month.
