Bacteriological Ammunition

(foreign), specially constructed artillery shells and mines, aerial bomb cassettes, bombs, rocket heads, containers, and spraying devices equipped with bacterial agents and intended for the destruction of people, farm animals, and vegetation. Bacteriological ammunition may be delivered to its target area by means of artillery, planes, rockets, and other devices.

Despite the fact that bacteriological weapons are prohibited by international agreements, the military specialists of a number of capitalist countries continue to develop them. They believe that the most effective bacteriological ammunition is that which creates a bacterial aerosol from suspensions and powders to infect the air over a large area. Such bacteriological ammunition includes explosive ammunition, which when activated releases a bacterial aerosol utilizing the explosive energy of the explosives; mechanical generators, which create an aerosol utilizing the energy of compressed gasses or of gasses released during the process of combustion of chemical substances; and spraying devices, which permit the creation of a bacterial aerosol by means of atomizing bacterial substances under the pressure of air.
