Isaak Semenovich Bruk

Bruk, Isaak Semenovich

 

Born Oct. 26 (Nov. 8), 1902, in Minsk. Soviet scientist in the fields of electronics and computer technology. Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1939).

Bruk graduated from the Moscow Higher Technical School in 1925. In 1935 he began working at the Power Engineering Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and in 1956 became head of the control machines and systems laboratory of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He joined the Institute of Electronic Control Machines in 1958. His major works are devoted to problems of electric power systems and electrical and mathematical machines. In 1948, Bruk began working on electronic digital computers and on control by means of computer technology. He has been awarded three orders and various medals.
