Kamyshlov
a city in Sverdlovsk Oblast, RSFSR. Situated on the Pyshma River (of the Ob’ River basin). Railroad station on the Sverdlovsk-Tiumen’ line, 143 km east of Sverdlovsk. Population, 31,000 (1970).
Kamyshlov has enterprises for the servicing of railroad transport, as well as plants for the manufacture of insulators and building materials, a metalworking plant, leather and clothing factories, a flour mill, and a poultry combine. The city also has a medical school and a pedagogical school. Kamyshlov grew out of a sloboda (tax-exempt settlement), which was founded in 1668. The sloboda was renamed in 1781 and made the administrative center of a district of the namestnichestvo (vicegerency) of Perm’. In 1796 it was made the administrative center of a district of Perm’ Province.
