angiostrongylosis

An abdominal infection by Angiostrongylus costaricensis, which primarily affects children in Central and South America.
 
Clinical findings
Abdominal pain, chills, nausea, diarrhoea and ileocecal or appendiceal eosinophilia; ± accompanied by lymph node, liver or testicular involvement.
Diagnosis
ELISA.
 
Hosts
Rodents (cotton rat), humans.
