Kafarov, Viktor Viacheslavovich
Born June 18, 1914, in Šiauliai, now in the Lithuanian SSR. Soviet chemical engineer. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1966). Member of the CPSU since 1952.
Kafarov graduated from the Kirov Institute of Chemical Engineering in Kazan in 1938. In 1944 he began working at the Mendeleev Institute of Chemical Engineering in Moscow, becoming head of a subdepartment in 1960. His research is devoted to the processes of and equipment used in chemical engineering as well as to the cybernetics of chemical engineering processes. Kafarov has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor twice and several medals.
