Born Aug. 20, 1832, in Warsaw; died there Sept. 14, 1884. Polish chemist.
Natanson graduated from the University of Dorpat (Tartu) in 1855 and was a professor at the University of Warsaw from 1862 to 1866. In 1856, Natanson discovered the bright red product rosaniline, which forms upon heating commercial aniline with dichloroethane. This product was later named fuchsin. Natanson was the author of the first Polish textbooks on organic chemistry.
