kang cancer kang can·cer , kangri cancera carcinoma of the skin of the thigh or abdomen in certain Indian or Chinese workers thought to result from irritation by heat from a hot brick oven (kang) or fire basket (kangri). Synonym(s): kangri burn carcinomaHeat-induced squamous cell carcinoma, which develops on the skin overlying the greater trochanter, less commonly over the os calcis or olecranon, in those who live in rural northwest China. First reported in 1948, it was attributed to the use of kangs for heat, and is analogous to the kangri cancer of Kashmir; it is unknown whether the modernisation of China has resulted in the disappearance of this condition |
