A simple and flexible business-improvement framework that operates under the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES), which is designed to help organisations in all sectors by providing tailored assessments in planning, implementing and evaluating effective strategies of improving organisations’ performance through their people. The vision of Investors in People is to increase the productivity of the UK economy by improving personnel management, leading to business improvement and better public services. The UKCES have licensed Investors in People Centres across the UK.

The extent to which the organization meets the training targets set is assessed by external assessors, and those found to have met them are given an Investors in People award.
