Kargasok

an urban-type settlement and administrative cen-ter of Kargasok Raion, Tomsk Oblast, RSFSR. It is a port onthe left bank of the Ob’ River, 535 km northwest of Tomsk. Itis the site of a logging and timber procurement establishment, afish-processing plant, and a creamery. It also has a meat anddairy sovkhoz and a livestock-fattening sovkhoz. There are pe-troleum and natural gas deposits and timber industries in theregion.
