Bessemianka

 

(seedless pear), an old Russian summer variety of pear of popular selection. The fruit is of average size (60–80 g), short pear-shaped, greenish yellow, often without seeds (hence the name), with melon yellow, succulent, sweet flesh. It matures in August to September and keeps no longer than 20 days. The trees are extremely tall and highly frost-resistant; and they bear fruit in the seventh to ninth year; they are high-yielding (150–200 kg from a tree). The bessemianka variety is distributed in the middle zone of the RSFSR, the Byelorussian, Armenian, and Kazakh SSR’s, and in the Baltic republics.
