Kataisk

a city and center of Kataisk Raion, Kurgan Oblast, RSFSR, located on the Iset’ River in the Irtysh basin.

Kataisk is a railroad station on the Sverdlovsk-Kurgan line, 214 km northwest of Kurgan. It has plants manufacturing pumping equipment, reinforced-concrete products, dry milk, and bricks. A teacher-training school is located in the city. Kataisk was founded in the mid-17th century and became a city in 1944.
