Iudin, Konstantin Konstantinovich

Born 1896 in Moscow; died there Mar. 30, 1957. Soviet motion-picture director. Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1954).

Iudin graduated from the directing department of the State Institute of Cinematography in 1932, having begun directing in 1929. He directed mostly comedies and some adventure pictures, including A Naughty Girl (1939), Antosha Rybkin (1942), Twins (1945), Hearts of the Four (1945), The Bold Ones (1950), Post in the Mountains (1953), The Swedish Match (1954, adapted from a work by A. P. Chekhov), and On Stage (1956, adapted from D. Lenskii’s skit “Lev Gurych Sinichkin, or The Provincial Debutante”). Iudin’s last film was The Fighter and the Clown (1957), about the famous clown A. Durov and the wrestler I. M. Poddubnyi; it was completed by B. V. Barnet.

Iudin was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1951. He was also awarded three orders and several medals.
