an urban-type settlement in Perm’ Raion, Perm’ Oblast, RSFSR. lug is 40 km south of Perm’ and 12 km from the lug railroad station on the Perm-Sverdlovsk line. The settlement has a furniture workshop.
Iug
a river in Vologda and Kirov oblasts, RSFSR; the right headstream of the Severnaia Dvina. The lug is 574 km long, and it drains an area of 35,600 sq km. The river rises in the Severnye Uvaly and flows across a hilly plain, where it forms large loops. The river is fed by mixed sources, but predominantly by snow. High water occurs from April to June. The mean flow rate 35 km from the mouth is 292 cu m per sec; the maximum flow rate is 4,930 cu m per sec, and the minimum is 25.5 cu m per sec. The lug freezes over between late October and the first half of December, and the ice breaks up in April or early May. The river’s left tributaries include the Sharzhenga and Kichmenga, and the principal right tributaries are the Pushma and Luza. The lug is used for floating timber, and it is navigable for 361 km during high water. The city of Nikol’sk is situated on the lug.
