Iukhnin, Vasilii Vasil’evich
Born Dec. 30, 1906 (Jan. 12, 1907), in the village of Zanul’e, now Priluzskii Raion, Komi ASSR; died Nov. 23, 1960, in Syktyvkar. Soviet Komi writer. Member of the CPSU from 1939.
lukhnin was the author of the first Komi novel, The Scarlet Ribbon (1941), in which he portrayed the path of his people to revolution. His novel The Lights of the Tundra (1949–57) dealt with the exploitation of the resources of the North.
lukhnin’s books have been translated into languages of the peoples of the USSR and several foreign languages. lukhnin was awarded two orders and several medals.
