Isil’kul’

 

a city in Omsk Oblast, RSFSR. Railroad station on the Trans-Siberian line, 145 km west of Omsk. Highway junction. Population, 26,000 (1970). The city has railroad transport enterprises, a brickworks, a meat-packing plant, a creamery, and a grain elevator. There are also factories for the production of technological equipment, knitted goods, and reinforced-concrete items. The city is the site of a pedagogical school. Isil’kul’ arose in 1895 in connection with the construction of the railroad. It was established as a city in 1945.
