Special Features:Site preserves the home and grave of abolitionist John Brown. OnOctober 16, 1859, Brown and his followers assaulted the US Arsenal atHarper's Ferry, planning to use the captured arms for the liberation ofthe slaves in the South. Brown was captured and tried, then hanged onDecember 2, 1859.
