释义 | John CatronCatron, John(c. 1786–1865) Supreme Court justice; probably born in Wythe County, Va. Elected to an early Tennessee court (1824–34), he was named to the U.S. Supreme Court (1837–65) by President Jackson when the Court was enlarged from seven judges to nine. Known as a "Jacksonian jurist," he argued vehemently for states rights. |
