Iulian Bromlei

Bromlei, Iulian Vladimirovich

 

Born Feb. 21, 1921, in Moscow. Soviet historian; specialist on the medieval history of Croatia. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1966). Member of the CPSU since 1944. Graduated from the history department of Moscow University (1950). Doctor of history (1965).

In 1952-58, Bromlei was learned secretary on coordination of the History Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and in 1958-1966, learned secretary of the History Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He has been director of the Ethnography Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1966 and deputy academician-secretary of the History Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1968. Bromlei is the author of the works The 1573 Peasant Uprising in Croatia (1959) and The Development of Feudalism in Croatia (1964).
