Iskusstvo Kino

(Art of the Cinema), an illustrated journal dealing with questions of the theory and criticism of the art of the cinema; since 1966 it has been the organ of the State Committee on Cinematography of the Council of Ministers of the USSR and the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR.

Iskusstvo kino has been published in Moscow since January 1931 (with an interruption from July 1941 to September 1945). During 1936–41 it came out monthly; during 1945–47, irregularly; during 1948–51, once every two months; and since 1952, monthly. The journal runs articles on the history and theory of the cinema, film reviews, scenarios, and articles on the work of masters of the art. Circulation, approximately 40,000 (1972).
