Iurii Aleksandrovich Zubkov
Zubkov, Iurii Aleksandrovich
Born Oct. 8 (21), 1914, in Moscow. Soviet theater scholar; literary and drama critic. Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1969). Member of the CPSU since 1944.
Zubkov graduated from the A. V. Lunacharskii State Institute of Theatrical Arts (GITIS) in 1939 and in 1954 finished graduate studies at the Academy of Social Sciences of the CC CPSU. He began his literary work in 1931. During 1954–57 he was deputy editor in chief of the magazine Oktiabr’ ; in 1958 he became editor in chief of Teatral’naia zhizri. His articles on Soviet drama and the theater appear in newspapers and magazines, collections, and annuals. He received two orders and medals.
