Iurii Stepanovich Gambarov

Gambarov, Iurii Stepanovich

 

Born 1850, died 1926. Russian jurist and specialist in the theory of law. Professor at Moscow University from 1884 to 1899.

Gambarov was one of the founders of the Russian School of Social Sciences in Paris (1900), and he taught at the University of Brussels. In 1906 he became head of the civil law department at the St. Petersburg Polytechnical Institute. Gambarov was a representative of the bourgeois-sociological school of civil law in Russia and a supporter of the comparative-historical method in the study of law.
