Ionava
Ionava
a city, the administrative center of Ionava Raion, Lithuanian SSR. Situated at the confluence of the Sventoji River with the Neris River (a tributary of the Nemunas). It has a railroad station on the Vilnius-Siauliai line 117 km northwest of Vilnius. Population, 14,000 (1970). Between 1960 and 1964 a nitrogenous fertilizer plant, building materials enterprises, a furniture combine, and a dairy were built. Ionava was founded in the 18th century.
