Karl Jeppesen

Jeppesen, Karl

 

Born Mar. 16, 1858; died Jan. 26, 1930. Prominent figure in the Norwegian labor movement, one of the founders of the Norwegian Labor Party and an author of its program of 1887.

Jeppesen, a Dane by national origin and a journalist by profession, represented the Norwegian Labor Party at the Constituent Congress of the Second International at Paris in 1889. From 1890 to 1892 and between 1894 and 1897 he was chairman of the Norwegian Labor Party. From the end of the 1890’s he took opportunistic positions. In 1921, Jeppesen be-came a member of the Social Democratic Party of Norway.
