Meusnier, Jean Baptiste Marie

 

(J. B. M. Meusnier de la Place). Born June 19, 1754, in Tours; died June 17, 1793, in Mainz. French mathematician; a general. Member of the Paris Academy of Sciences (1784).

Known chiefly for his investigations in differential geometry, Meusnier studied the properties of curvatures of plane sections of a surface.
