Ivan Evreinov

Evreinov, Ivan Mikhailovich

 

Year of birth unknown; died 1724. Russian geodesist and explorer. He at-tended the Moscow School of Mathematical and Navigational Sciences and later (until 1718) the geodesy class of the Naval Academy in St. Petersburg. In 1719, Evreinov and F. F. Luzhin were sent on the personal instructions of Peter I to map Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands.
