Kaindy-Katta

 

(also Kaindy or Kaindinskii), a mountainrange in the Central Tien-Shan, in the Sarydzhaz basin, stretch-ing southward from the Kainda valley, Kirghiz SSR. Elevation, more than 5, 000 m; length, approximately 65 km. The moun-tains, which are composed of schists and limestones, are coveredwith perpetual snows and glaciers, (particularly in the east).Cliffs and taluses predominate. At the foot of the mountains, tothe west, is mountainous semidesert.
