joint specialty clinic

joint specialty clinic

An NHS term for a consultant clinic provided jointly by two or more specialties. Patients attending joint specialty clinics are usually seen by consultants, or other team members in all involved specialties. As used in the UK, a clinic is a session of care under a named clinician, or a session dedicated to a group of related management issues (e.g., anaemia clinic), and not the physical plant itself.
Examples
Orthopaedics/rheumatology, thyroid clinic (general medicine/surgery), gynaecology/urology, radiotherapy/ENT, memory clinic (with old-age psychiatry/geriatrics).
