Keriya
Keriya
a river in western China. It rises in, and in its upper course flows through, the Kunlun Mountains. In its lower course the river disappears in the sands of the Takla-Makan desert. Length of the section with a constant flow, 530 km. Basin area, 18,300 sq km. There are floods along the river during the summer. The average discharge at the point where the river enters the Kashgar Plain is 18 cu m per sec. A considerable part of the river’s water is used for irrigation.
