Ivan Ludri
Ludri, Ivan Martynovich
Born 1895; died Nov. 26, 1937. Soviet military commander; flag officer first rank (1935). Member of the CPSU from 1918. Born in Livonia Province, now Viljandi Raion, Estonian SSR.
Ludri graduated from the Naval Academy in 1927. He became secretary of the Kronstadt Naval Committee and commissar of the Kronstadt base in 1918. He became commandant of Kronstadt and commissar of the Onega Naval Flotilla in 1919, commissar of the Naval Forces of the Black Sea in 1920, and a member of the Revolutionary Military Council and chief of the Naval Forces of the Caspian Sea in 1921. He was appointed commander of the Coastal Defense of the Black Sea in 1927. Ludri was appointed chief of staff of the Naval Forces of the Black Sea and chief of the Directorate of Naval Forces of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army (RKKA) in 1930, deputy chief of the Naval Forces of the RKKA in 1932, and chief of the Naval Academy in 1937. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
