Koray, Kenan Hulusi

 

Born 1908 in Istanbul; died May 23, 1943, in Adapazari. Turkish writer.

Koray graduated from the University of Istanbul. From 1934 to 1943 he worked on the newspaper Vakit. A member of the literary group the Seven Torchbearers, his first short stories were published in 1928. In his short stories Koray, in the traditions of critical realism, shows the fate of the common man and the inner world of the peasant who became a worker for capitalist enterprise in the city. Koray also wrote the collections A Drink of Water (1929), Spring Stories (1939), and Seven Men in a Hotel (1940).
