Location:From the East: US 50 west 20 miles to Hasty, then south onSchool Street for 2 miles. From the West: US 50 east 20 miles fromLa Junta to Las Animas, continue through Las Animas 16 miles to Hasty,then south on School Street for 2 miles.
Facilities:213 campsites, 163 electrical/sewer hookups, showers,laundry, group campground, 17 picnic areas, 3 group picnic areas,trails, 2 boat ramps, restrooms, visitor/nature center (é).
Activities:Camping, hiking, mountain biking, boating,fishing, jet skiing, sailboarding, swimming, water-skiing,cross-country skiing/snowshoeing, ice fishing, ice skating, wintercamping, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Located in the Lower Arkansas River Valley in southeasternColorado, John Martin is a large reservoir that accommodates all formsof water recreation. The park also supports a diverse community ofwildlife and is a nesting place for the threatened piping plover andendangered interior least tern from mid-April to late August each year.Bald eagles can be seen here in the winter months.
