Keles

 

an urban-type settlement in Kalinin Raion, Tashkent Oblast, Uzbek SSR. It is located 8 km from Tashkent. Railroad station. Population, 8,000(1971). It has a factory for the primary processing of wool. Keles is also the site of a horticultural, viticultural, and livestock-raising sovkhoz.


Keles

 

a river in Chimkent Oblast, Kazakh SSR, a right tributary of the Syr Darya. Length, 241 km; basin area, 3,310 sq km. It rises in the Karzhantau Mountains and flows through a broad valley. The river is fed primarily by snow; it also is fed by the Chirchik River. The average annual flow rate at the mouth is 6.5 cu m per sec. In the lower course the Keles is widely used for irrigation.
