释义 | Kelley, Edgar StillmanKelley, Edgar Stillman,1857–1944, American composer and critic, b. Sparta, Wis., studied in Chicago and at the Stuttgart Conservatory. He taught (1901–2) at Yale, replacing Horatio Parker, and afterward in Berlin until 1910, when he became dean of the composition department of the Cincinnati Conservatory. Among his works are an orchestral suite, Aladdin (1894), based on Chinese music heard in San Francisco; two symphonies, Gulliver (1913–37) and New England (1913); and an oratorio, The Pilgrim's Progress (1918). |
