Moskvitin, Ivan Iur’evich
Dates of birth and death unknown. Russian explorer, Tomsk Cossack.
In 1639, Moskvitin’s detachment journeyed up the Maia River and its tributary the Iudoma, crossed over the Dzhugdzhur Range and, descending along the Ul’ia River, reached the shores of the Sea of Okhotsk. From 1639 to 1641 he explored its coastline for a considerable distance to the east and west of the Ul’ia River.
