Ivanov, Viacheslav Nikolaevich
Born July 30, 1938, in Moscow. Soviet athlete, oarsman of single shells, Honored Master of Sports (1956). Officer of the Soviet Army.
Ivanov won the USSR championship on a one-man shell 11 times in succession (1956–66) and was European champion (1956, 1959, 1961, and 1964) and world champion (1962). He is the only oarsman in the history of rowing who was three times champion of the Olympic Games (1956, 1960, and 1964) in one-man shell races. Ivanov has been awarded three orders.
