Janské Lázně

 

a balneological health resort in Czechoslovakia, in the Czech Socialist Republic; located 60 km north of Hra-dec Králové. Janské Lázně is situated in the Upa River valley at an elevation of 600–800 m. Summers are warm, with an average July temperature of 16°C, and winters are mild, with an average January temperature of –6°C. Annual precipitation totals 1,000–1,200 mm. The resort has hydrocarbonate-calcium-sodium springs with a low silicic acid content, which are used for bathing and swimming in pools. Patients are treated for metabolic disorders (gout and obesity), the aftereffects of illnesses (mainly poliomyelitis), and traumas of the nervous system. The resort has sanatoriums, bathing buildings, and hotels. Janské Láznĕ is also a ski resort.
