Ivǎnuş, Constantin

Born Nov. 11, 1886; died Nov. 23, 1928. Participant in the Rumanian workers’ movement.

Iv̌nuş, joined the Socialist Party of Rumania in 1912. He engaged in revolutionary propaganda among the soldiers in World War I. After the war he helped found the Communist Party of Rumania (CPR). He was arrested in May 1921, on the eve of the first congress of the CPR. He was elected to the Central Committee of the CPR at the second congress of the party in October 1922. He was in prison from 1925 to 1928. After he was freed, he left for treatment in the USSR but died in Germany before reaching the Soviet Union. He was buried in Berlin alongside K. Liebknecht and R. Luxemburg.
