Karlovka

a city (until 1957, an urban-type settlement); ad-ministrative center of Karlovka Raion, Poltava Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, on the Orchik River (Dnieper Basin). Railroadstation. Population, 17, 100 (1971). Industry includes a machine-building plant, a sugar refinery, a distillery, and a furniturefactory. The city was founded in the 1740’s.
