i·so·pros·tane (ī-sō-pros-tān), Compound derived from the free radical oxidation of arachidonic acid; resembles in some manner the prostoglandins. Elevated levels may be associated with atherosclerosis, hepatorenal syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and carcinogenesis.isoprostane (ī-sō-prŏs′tān″) Any compound similar to prostaglandin that can be used as a marker for tissue damage caused by oxygen-derived free radicals.
