Facilities:Visitor contact station (on Big Pine Key).
Activities:Boating, fishing, snorkeling, diving.
Special Features:All of the islands in the refuge are designated as part of the Wilderness Preservation System, and are managed to minimize human impact and influence.
Habitats: Unpopulated mangrove islands totaling 189,497 acres with some sandy beaches, dunes, saltmarsh, and coastal berm hammocks, along with seagrass and coral reef communities.
Access: By boat only; portions of some islands are closed.
Wild life: Wading birds, sea turtles.
