Nitrophos

 

(or nitrophosphate), a compound nitrogen-phosphorus mineral fertilizer. It contains an average of 38 percent N and P2O5. It is produced in granules consisting of a precipitate, ammonium nitrate, and gypsum or a precipitate, superphosphate, Ammophos, and ammonium nitrate obtained in a single production process by decomposition of apatite or phosphorite with a mixture of nitric acid and sulfuric or phosphoric acid and subsequent ammoniation of the reacting mass. It is used as a base and presowing fertilizer for all crops.
